Georgetown County woman charged with tax evasion

SCDOR agents arrested a Georgetown County woman on Wednesday and charged her with three counts of tax evasion.

Kissha Nagai Taimee Reed, 53, of Georgetown, failed to file South Carolina Individual Income Tax returns for tax years 2022-2024, according to arrest warrants. Reed also filed withholding documents with her employer falsely indicating she was exempt from South Carolina Individual Income Tax.

According to the warrants, Reed had South Carolina taxable income for the three years totaling at least $253,178. As a result, she owes approximately $12,986 in South Carolina Income Tax.

If convicted, Reed faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, plus the cost of prosecution for each count. She is being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
