Saturday, December 6th Mental Health Rehabilitation Center In-person and Virtual Listening Session

County of Monterey Health Department Behavioral Health Bureau is hosting another in person and virtual listening session on the proposed Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (MHRC). This session will be held Saturday, December 6th at 10am in the Whitney Room at the Health Department offices at 1270 Natividad Road in Salinas.

Attendees will learn more about this project, be given an opportunity to ask questions, and share their thoughts. Interpretation services will be available for Spanish speakers.

"I want to thank those who have attended the previous listening sessions" said Melanie Rhodes, Behavioral Health Bureau Chief, "We appreciate your participation, and you are welcome to attend this session as well."

The project is scheduled to go before the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, December 9th at 1:30 pm. Public comment will be taken after the presentation.

The project

The project includes six (6) new 16-bed Mental Health Rehabilitation Centers in Salinas to expand local treatment capacity for adults age 18+ with serious mental illness and/or co- occurring substance use disorders who are LPS conserved.

The MHRC will be a secure, 24-hour residential treatment program that would provide intensive psychosocial support and rehabilitative services with the goal of helping the residents build the skills needed to increase self-sufficiency and achieve higher levels of independent functioning.
