Next week, the Marion Parks and Recreation Department will hold an open house to gather input on the new playground design elements being considered for Gill Park, located at 3450 Hawthorne Street, Marion.
The open house will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center, 4500 N. 10th Street, Marion.
Last spring, the 20-year-old structure at Gill Park was removed due to safety concerns. The City is working with a vendor to finalize the design elements of the playground, which is scheduled to be installed this summer.
Staff began gathering community input during the Healthy Kids Day and the Marion City Showcase earlier this month and will present three playground layouts for consideration at the open house. Then, the vendor will finalize the design and solicit bids for the engineered site plan.
Community members are encouraged to attend and help shape the future of Gill Park.
