This event is considered an important milestone in the process of modernizing flight management and operations in the Southern region, while contributing to improving the service capacity of the civil aviation industry in Ho Chi Minh City - the largest economic center of the country.
Controllers monitor and operate flight operations.
New flight procedures include SID (Standard Instrument Departure), STAR (Standard Terminal Arrival Route) and modernized approach procedures. All are built, reviewed and updated in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
The synchronous implementation of these methods promises to bring many practical benefits, notably improving the level of operational safety, optimizing air traffic flow, and reducing the workload for the system and Air Traffic Controllers.
The new methods not only contribute to improving the accessibility and departure of aircraft at Tan Son Nhat Airport - one of the busiest airports in Vietnam but also help increase the continuity and stability of flight operations in changing weather conditions or when air traffic increases suddenly.
A representative of the Approach Control Center stated that the introduction of the new air traffic control procedures is the result of an extensive preparation process, including infrastructure capacity assessments, flight-scenario simulations, intensive training for controllers, and close coordination with airlines. This effective coordination ensures a safe and smooth transition that fully meets ICAO requirements.
The adoption of the new flight procedures is expected by the aviation community to further enhance air traffic management capacity in the Ho Chi Minh City area, laying a foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnam's aviation sector in the coming years, as demand for air transport continues to rise sharply both domestically and internationally.
