(Peoria, IL) On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 8:22 p.m., Peoria Police and Peoria Fire Department personnel responded to the 3400 block of Fallen Oak regarding a reported apartment fire.
Upon arrival, first responders observed smoke coming from one of the units. Officers immediately evacuated the building and were advised that two adults and three children remained inside the affected apartment. The adults initially refused to exit but were safely removed from the residence by officers.
Peoria Fire Department personnel located the source of the smoke and discovered electronics inside the oven. Further investigation revealed the items had been reported stolen during a recent residential burglary (Case #25-19195).
The two adults were identified as 22-year-old Tkeyah S. Murray and 36-year-old Curtis D. McBride. Both were arrested for Aggravated Arson and Endangering the Life or Health of a Child (3 counts). Murray and McBride were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
