Weekend lane closures on outbound Bishop Ford

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that pavement patching on the outbound Bishop Ford Freeway (Interstate 94) from south of 130th Street to Dolton Avenue will require lane closures this weekend.

Starting at 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, lane closures are scheduled to take place on outbound Bishop Ford from south of 130th Street to Dolton Avenue. At least one outbound lane will remain open at all times. The inbound lanes and ramps will not be impacted. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct.12.

All schedules are subject to change due to multiple factors, including weather. Any updates will be shared with the public as far in advance as possible.

The work this weekend is intended to keep the pavement through the work zone in acceptable condition while the larger Bishop Ford corridor is under construction.

Heavy congestion is anticipated. Drivers heading eastbound should consider alternate routes to avoid the area. As the Bishop Ford reconstruction continues, the public should continue to expect lane shifts, overnight lane closures and significant delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
