Tallahassee Competing Against 100 Other Communities for Free Outdoor Music Series Funding

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Council on Culture & Arts (COCA) and Tallahassee Downtown are partnering to bring a free, three-year outdoor music series to the city, competing for a national Levitt Music Series Grant worth up to $120,000.
The grant, awarded by the Levitt Foundation, supports nonprofits in transforming underused public spaces into vibrant music destinations through seven to 10 free concerts each year from 2026 to 2028. Tallahassee is one of more than 100 U.S. communities advancing to the public voting phase.

Tallahassee Downtown currently hosts free music events such as Music Under the Oaks in Lewis Park, part of the Chain of Parks in the city's downtown. If awarded, the grant would support the continuation and expansion of similar events for the next three years.

Public support is a key factor in the selection process, with the 50 finalists determined in part by total vote count. Grant recipients will be announced Nov. 18.

Residents can vote online or by text from Sept. 5-15 at levitt.org/vote, tlhdowntown.com/vote, or by texting TALLY to 877-409-5525. Each person may vote for up to five proposals.

COCA and Tallahassee Downtown encourage community members to vote and share the campaign to help bring more music to the heart of the city.
