Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong's meeting with President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong met President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul on 19 June 2026.

Prime Minister Wong and President Erdoğan reaffirmed the warm and longstanding relations between Singapore and Türkiye. They welcomed the growing bilateral ties and discussed ways to build on the Strategic Partnership as well as the Türkiye-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, and transport. They discussed ways to increase bilateral engagements, including through more high-level visits. They welcomed Türkiye's intent to increase its engagement of ASEAN.

Prime Minister Wong and President Erdoğan also exchanged views on international developments, and reaffirmed their countries' shared commitment to uphold the rules-based international order and promote stability in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.
