Board of County Commissioners' Schedule for September 7 - 11

MONDAY, September 7
County offices are closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

TUESDAY, September 8
10:00 a.m. - Business Agenda Meeting
The Board will consider:

  1. Approval of County Cash Requirements August 21, 2026 through August 28, 2026.
  2. Approval of the 2026-2027 CORE Services Program Plan.
  3. Approval of a lease agreement between La Plata County and the Town of Bayfield for the Bayfield Motor Vehicle Department branch.
  4. Approval of Memorandum of Understanding Regarding the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program.
  5. Approval of the submittal of the Public Health Department's application for the Rocky Mountain Health Foundation's Critical Services Fund Grant application to ensure program continuity at La Plata County Public Health Department's Public Health Clinic.
  6. Ratification of a letter to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and Underground Damage Safety Commission to discuss fiber damage, underground locates, and 911 telecommunications resiliency in Southwest Colorado.
  7. Approval of the appointment of La Plata County's Commissioner delegate to the Legislative Committee for Colorado Counties, Inc. (CCI) for 2027 legislative year.

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:
Personnel matters pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(f). Purpose: Personnel matters regarding the County Manager.

WEDNESDAY, September 9
8:30 a.m. - Board Discussion Time
The Commissioners will meet with staff in the Board Room to discuss various issues.

The board has been invited to attend the VIP Reception for the 19th Annual Alliance Summit. The reception will be held at Zia Taqueria, 2977 Main Avenue in Durango.

THURSDAY, September 10
8:00 a.m. - 2026 Alliance Summit - Fueling Our Economy
The Board will attend the 2026 Alliance Summit, sponsored by the Economic Development Alliance. The Summit will explore how public wealth, local assets, and collective leadership can drive shared prosperity across the Four Corners region. The event will be held at the Sky Ute Casino, located at 14324 CO-172 in Ignacio.

FRIDAY, September 11
9:00 a.m. - Executive Session
Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute § 24-6-402 (4), upon the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the quorum present, the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners will hold an executive session to discuss the following matters:

  1. Personnel matters pursuant to Colo. Rev. Stat. § 24-6-402(4)(f).
    Purpose: Personnel matters regarding the County Attorney.

10:00 a.m. - Board of County Commissioners Retreat
The Board will meet with staff to review leadership priorities and practices and discuss board goals and priorities for 2026 and 2027.
