Lamar University's Department of Theatre and Dance will showcase emerging student talent in its upcoming "Next Draft: Student Works Series," a multi-day performance highlighting original theater created by student artists.
The series will run April 9-11 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance April 12 at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. The event is open to the public.
"Next Draft" features a collection of short plays and staged readings written, directed and performed entirely by students, offering audiences an early look at new voices shaping the future of theater. The works range from personal and introspective to bold and experimental, reflecting a wide spectrum of storytelling styles.
The showcase emphasizes creativity and risk-taking, giving students the opportunity to develop original material in a collaborative environment while gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of production.
