Universal waste consists of consumer electronics, batteries, fluorescent lighting and other mercury containing products that will not be accepted in your garbage. Residents (no business waste accepted) can keep these items away from our air, water, and landfills by properly disposing of them as follows:
Fluorescent Light Bulbs and Batteries:
For Single-family homes: Household batteries are recycled at the curb. Put batteries in a zipped plastic bag with tape covering the terminals and place on top of your recycling cart.
For Multi-family buildings: Morgan Hill Library, 408-779-3196: accepts household batteries for recycling.
Ace Hardware Johnson Lumber, 408-778-1550: accepts fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries for recycling.
