Cambodia/Thailand – Entry into force of the ceasefire (27 December 2025)

France welcomes the entry into force of a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia today, Saturday 27 December, following the General Border Committee meeting which saw the resumption of dialogue between the two countries' military authorities.

Peace must now be consolidated. France encourages the two parties to take all necessary measures as quickly as possible to guarantee the protection of their populations, the return of displaced civilians and the peaceful resolution of their disputes, with due respect for international law.

As the [French Foreign] Minister assured his Thai and Cambodian counterparts during their talks on 23 December, France continues to stand by the two countries and the ASEAN chairmanship to lend its support.
