The proclamation honors Kirk's lifelong dedication to faith, family, and country, as well as his unwavering commitment to the founding principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government.
Before his tragic passing on Sept. 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk founded a national organization that inspired millions of students to become engaged citizens through civic education and participation. He strongly believed in respectful dialogue, the protection of free speech, and the importance of fostering environments where differing opinions can be shared freely and respectfully.
In addition to the proclamation, the county commission approved a road dedication in his honor. The segment of County Road 475 (South Magnolia Avenue) from County Road 312 to SW 42nd Avenue, connecting three local schools, will now be dedicated to Charlie Kirk.
"Today's recognition is about carrying forward the enduring ideas of freedom, civic responsibility, and the principles that define America," said Vice Chairman Carl Zalak, III.
The county commission also reaffirmed its condemnation of all forms of political violence and harassment, reflecting on Kirk's legacy as a reminder of the ongoing need for civility, unity, and mutual respect in public discourse.
Charlie Kirk's legacy continues to encourage citizens to embrace civic engagement and uphold the values that strengthen our democracy.
