Marion County Utilities has issued a planned precautionary boil water notice for customers in the Courtney Acres, Fore Acres, and Hillside communities while crews establish new connections to provide safe, reliable drinking water and sewer services. These connections help reduce contamination of our aquifer and waterways.
Affected customers can expect water service interruptions between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on March 17.
Customers should bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until the precautionary notice is lifted. Bottled water may also be used for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.
Water used for bathing, showering, and laundry does not need to be boiled.
Marion County Utilities will conduct required water quality testing in accordance with Florida Department of Environmental Protection regulations and advise the above-listed customers once this boil water notice is lifted.
Customers are being notified through email, interactive community calls, media releases, and social media. Customers are also encouraged to contact Marion County Utilities Customer Service at 352-307-6000 during regular business hours to ensure their account phone number is accurate.
