The City of Indio is advising residents, motorists and visitors to plan ahead for road closures and traffic impacts associated with the Head Trip festival at Empire Polo Club.
Avenue 50 between Madison Avenue and Monroe Street is fully closed through October 19. Additional full road closures will be in effect Friday, October 9 through Sunday, October 11, around the festival area. Motorists traveling near Avenue 49, Avenue 50, Avenue 52, Washington Street, Jefferson Street, and Monroe Street should expect major delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible. For pedestrian safety, no pedestrian or festival access will be permitted on Monroe Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52, or on Madison Street between Avenue 50 and Avenue 52. Streets will return to normal traffic patterns beginning Monday, October 12.
Drivers should allow additional travel time, follow posted traffic controls and use alternate routes including major surrounding corridors such as Highway 111, Jackson Street, and Fred Waring Drive, where appropriate.
Please see attached traffic maps for more detail and they also identify designated rideshare areas for Saturday and Sunday and a friends/family and taxi drop-off and pickup area Friday through Sunday.
The City appreciates the community's patience and cooperation and encourages motorists to avoid the immediate festival area when possible throughout the weekend.
