Commissioners proclaim March
as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month

FREEHOLD, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed March 2026 as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Month during their Workshop Meeting on March 26.

"My fellow Commissioners and I are proud to proclaim March as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month with the goal of raising awareness about MS and the ways in which people can assist loved ones who may be diagnosed with the disease," said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone. "Symptoms of MS can include fatigue, muscle weakness, numbness, vision problems and difficulty with coordination. Neurologists, MS specialists or physical therapists can provide valuable information about the disease, its management and recent advancements in treatment."

A proclamation was presented by Commissioner Erik Anderson to Amada Delgado on behalf of Darrell Wordelmann, from Single Parents with MS. MS is a neurological disease of the central nervous system, affecting approximately 2.8 million people worldwide.

"Having watched my mom live with Multiple Sclerosis for many years, I understand firsthand the impact this disease can have on a family," said Commissioner Anderson. "I am proud to stand with the MS community, not only to raise awareness and support both those diagnosed and their caregivers, but also to advocate for better treatments, more resources, and ultimately, a cure."
