BRISTOL BAY SCIENCE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE
Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:
APPLICANT: BRISTOL BAY SCIENCE AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE
PROJECT NAME: LAS 35922
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Site A is located on Klutuspak Creek, approximately 1.5 miles from the confluence with the Nushagak River.
Site B is located on the east bank of the Stuyahok River, approximately 0.75 miles from the confluence with the Mulchatna River.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Site A: NE 1/4 SW 1/4 Section 33, Township 1 South, Range 47 West, Seward Meridian
Site B: SW 1/4 SW 1/4 Section 16, Township 4 South, Range 43 West, Seward Meridian
REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Applicant Bristol Bay Science and Research Institute is requesting authorization for a five-year seasonal (May - September) land use permit for two fish weirs and field camps with year-round caching on Klutuspak Creek and Stuyahok River in support of salmon migration monitoring in collaboration with Alaska Department of Fish & Game. The Klutuspak camp will include a 12-foot by 16-foot canvas tent with wooden floor, two 8-foot square wooden tent platforms, an 8-foot square wood storage shed, a four-foot square pit privy and a 75-foot tripod/aluminum panel weir. The Stuyahok camp will include a 12-foot by 20-foot weatherport with wooden platform, two 8-foot square wood tent platforms, an 8-foot square wood platform with portable storage shed, a 4-foot square pit privy, and a 100-foot tripod/aluminum panel weir.

Start: May 1, 2026
End: April 30, 2031

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity.
