UNM accepting applications for Clauvé Outstanding Senior Award

The University of New Mexico is accepting applications for the 2026 Clauvé Outstanding Senior Award, which recognizes exceptional undergraduate seniors who demonstrate strong academic performance and meaningful contributions to the campus community through leadership, service and involvement.

The award is open to Albuquerque campus undergraduate baccalaureate students graduating in December 2025 or May 2026. Eligible students must complete the online application by Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 11:45 p.m. Letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically to [email protected].

One of UNM's most prestigious student honors, the Clauvé Outstanding Senior Award celebrates seniors who excel academically while leaving a lasting impact on campus life through organizational involvement, leadership roles and service activities.

The award is named for Lena C. Clauvé, a longtime educator and influential leader at UNM. Clauvé served as UNM's first dean of women from 1929 to 1961, shaping student life and supporting campus organizations during more than three decades of service. Born in Wabash, Indiana, she came to New Mexico to care for her ailing mother and graduated from UNM in 1925 with a bachelor's degree in music.

During her tenure, Clauvé helped found and support multiple student groups, provided personal and financial assistance to students in need, and became known for her commitment to student success and well-being. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of Lobos. Students interested in applying for the 2026 award can visit unm.edu/clauve26 to access the application and requirements.
