'I am deeply concerned about the escalation of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in Lebanon', said Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
'The Lebanese people continue to bear the brunt of this conflict. The death toll continues to rise, and the risk of further escalation is both serious and immediate.
'I call on all parties to cease hostilities without delay. Hezbollah must immediately cease fire and lay down its weapons. Israel must respect Lebanon's sovereignty and refrain from any military action on Lebanese territory.
'Norway stands ready to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected and to support Lebanon in finding a lasting political solution to this conflict. The Lebanese people have the right to live in peace and security', said Eide.
