Tulsa Animal Services, in partnership with Humane Society of Tulsa, will host a free community pet microchip event on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northpoint Shopping Center, 205 E. Pine St.
The event is designed to help keep pets safe and reunite lost animals with their families by providing 150 free microchips on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. No appointments or reservations are required.
In addition to microchips, pet owners will have access to free pet supplies made possible through a grant from the George Kaiser Family Foundation (GKFF). Available items include leashes, collars, harnesses, and dog food while supplies last.
As part of the event, staff and volunteers will also create personalized pet ID tags for participants. Tags will be mailed directly to pet owners after the event at no cost.
"No one expects their pet to get lost, but it happens every day," Sherri Carrier, Director of Tulsa Animal Services, said. "When a pet has a microchip and updated contact information, it dramatically increases the chances of a happy reunion. This event is about removing barriers and making sure more families have access to resources that help keep their pets safe and at home."
Microchips provide permanent identification that can be scanned by shelters and veterinary clinics if a pet becomes lost. Tulsa Animal Services encourages all pet owners to ensure their contact information remains up to date in their microchip registration.
"Keeping pets with the families who love them is one of the most effective ways to support animal welfare in our community," Gina Gardner, President, Humane Society of Tulsa, said. "Microchips and ID tags are small investments that can have a life-changing impact when a pet goes missing. We're proud to partner with Tulsa Animal Services to help more pet owners access these important tools."
Thousands of pets enter shelters each year without identification. Microchips help increase the likelihood that lost pets can be quickly reunited with their owners, reducing stress on families and shortening shelter stays for lost animals.
The event is part of ongoing efforts to expand access to pet resources in north Tulsa, increase pet retention, reduce the number of lost pets entering shelters, and connect pet owners with resources that help keep pets safe and at home.
