[Alexandria, VA] - Micah Hill, representing Burke & Herbert Bank (the Bank), won the Bankers Choice award in the American Bankers Association's (ABA) Lights, Camera, Save! national video contest with his video, "opens in a new windowDeclined and Confused". The announcement was made recently in a video broadcast by the ABA. Hill is a student at West Potomac Academy in Alexandria, Virginia. The Bankers Choice winner is chosen by a vote of all the attendees at ABA's annual Conference for Community Bankers held this year in Orlando, Florida.

As the Bank's top winner from the state of Virginia, Hill received a cash prize of $500 and his teacher, Mikquan Johnson, received a cash prize of $100 from the Bank in recognition of their work toward advancing good financial habits. In addition, the ABA is presenting Hill with a content creator prize bundle valued at approximately $800.

"Each year the entries are better than the year before. It is heartening to see how well the students can grasp the concepts of good financial behavior and produce a short clip that speaks to other teens," said Chief Executive Officer David Boyle. "As a community bank, we are pleased to offer this program which incentivizes young people to learn about and promote money smarts. Congratulations to Micah and all the students that participated."

Lights, Camera, Save! is a unique competition that encourages youth, aged 13-18, to use video to communicate the value of saving and using money wisely to inspire their peers and others to become lifelong savers.

Burke & Herbert Bank joined participating banks from across the United States and Washington, D.C. who hosted local levels of the competition and selected a winner to represent their bank on the national level. Hill's video was selected to represent the Bank in the national contest. It advanced to the final round, where it became a national finalist and was ultimately selected as the Bankers Choice. The contest helps young people develop and share their understanding of budgeting, saving, avoiding debt, and other key financial concepts.
