Bellflower residents are invited to safely dispose of old electronics at the upcoming e-Waste recycling event on Jan. 17-18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodruff Elementary, 15332 Eucalyptus Ave. The event provides a convenient opportunity to recycle electronics that have reached the end of their useful life, whether they are working or not.
Accepted items include computer monitors, televisions, printers, laptops, home entertainment systems, phones and more. Major appliances, such as refrigerators and microwaves, will incur a service charge. Fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries will not be accepted.
Properly disposing of used electronic waste helps reduce toxic materials in landfills and minimizes environmental pollution. Recycling also allows valuable materials such as metals, plastics and glass to be recovered and reused, reducing the need for new resource extraction.
