The call for applications for the 42nd intake of the National PhD Programme in Peace Studies has been officially published. The three-year PhD programme is coordinated by Sapienza and organised by the Network of Italian Universities for Peace (RUniPace) in collaboration with a wide network of Italian universities. The aim of the programme is to train researchers and experts capable of tackling the complex political, social and economic challenges of our time.
The Università di Brescia has long been firmly committed to peace, and recent international geopolitical events confirm the wisdom of this choice. According to Professor Carlo Alberto Romano, Director of the University's University for Peace research centre and RUniPace delegate, the area in which universities can make their most significant contribution is precisely that of study and research into these issues. For this reason, the University of Brescia supports this initiative, including through financial backing.
The training programme is divided into ten modules:
Graduates under the old degree system, Master's degree holders or those holding an equivalent foreign qualification are eligible to apply. There are also 34 subject-specific and general scholarships available, funded by the universities and partner organisations. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 3 July 2026. Applications must be submitted exclusively online via the dedicated portal of Sapienza University, in accordance with the instructions set out in the call for applications published at this link.
