64% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy
Next week, Donald Trump will hit the road to try to stem the bleeding on his approval rating, which is now at an all-time low. Recent CBS polling found that 64% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy and 60% disapprove of his job performance overall, a record low for Trump.
Trump's "tour" comes on the heels of historic Democratic overperformance across the country all year long as voters soundly reject Trump's economy, which has been a complete disaster for working families. Trump's chaotic trade policies are raising costs on groceries, housing, and other essentials, and will cost the average household nearly $1,700 more a year. His Big Ugly Bill kicks millions of Americans off their health insurance, all while giving massive tax handouts to his billionaire donors. Now, Trump's refusal to extend the expiring enhanced ACA tax credits will cause insurance premiums to double or even triple for 22 million Americans.
A Reminder: This week, Trump dismissed Americans' growing concerns about affordability, saying, "affordability is a hoax" and declaring that he "fixed" inflation.
In response, DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin issued the following statement:
"Donald Trump is traveling across the country to try to rescue Republicans' dwindling chances in the midterms and gaslight Americans over his disastrous economy. We welcome Trump to share his economic record with voters across the country. Trump may think affordability is a 'hoax,' but working families are feeling the pain of Trump's economic policies every single day - from paying their electricity bill to checking out at the grocery store."
