At approximately 3 a.m. on May 12, 2026, the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported apartment fire in the 2300 block of Jackson Bluff Road.
Firefighters arrived on scene in less than five minutes to find smoke and fire coming from a second-floor apartment. Crews quickly made entry into the building, initiated fire suppression operations and conducted searches of the affected area.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the original apartment and prevent extension to nearby units. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents.
TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
