Starting Monday, July 6, the Stormwater Utility's contractor, TB Dozing & Excavation LLC, plans to initiate a road closure on West Sexton Road at the intersections of Jefferson Street and McBaine Avenue. This is for the construction of the Sexton-McBaine Stormwater Improvement Project, a capital improvement project.
The contractor intends to begin with Jefferson Street, then, once it is completed, transition to the McBaine Avenue closure. The two closures will not be in effect at the same time.
Road closure signs will be posted in the area. Please reference the attached exhibit for the project location and road closure areas. Drivers should plan to find an alternative route.
The closure is expected to last a total of 90 days, weather permitting.
The Sexton Road and McBaine Avenue Stormwater Improvement Project includes replacement and improvement of public storm drainage infrastructure on Sexton Road, McBaine Avenue and Jefferson Street. The project consists of constructing approximately 614 feet of new stormwater pipe and eight new stormwater structures. The existing stormwater system in this area is undersized and in poor condition, causing roadway flooding. Portions of the existing stormwater system along Sexton Road will be abandoned, and the proposed stormwater pipes will be rerouted toward the south into an existing box culvert.
Impacts to Go COMO Gold Route
Beginning Monday, July 6, the Go COMO Gold Route will detour around the Sexton Road closure. The detour is expected to remain in effect for approximately 90 days while construction is underway.
Outbound Gold Route buses traveling east on West Sexton Road will turn south onto Banks Avenue, then west onto West Worley Street before returning to the regular route.
The West Sexton Road and Banks Avenue bus stop will remain in service but will be temporarily relocated to the west side of the Banks Avenue intersection.
The following Gold Route bus stops will be temporarily out of service:
Riders who normally use these stops should instead board the bus at either the temporarily relocated West Sexton Road and Banks Avenue stop or the West Worley Street and Banks Avenue stop.
For more information about the Gold Route detour, including route maps, follow Go COMO Transit on social media, check the ETA Transit app or watch for informational signs posted at affected bus stops later this week.
