Periodic sidewalk closures to take place at Iowa City Senior Center beginning Aug. 18

Weather permitting, work is expected to begin on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, on the Iowa City Senior Center exterior door and window replacement project.

The project will require periodic sidewalk closures, as well as the partial closure of the alley from Linn Street to Gilbert Street.

The anticipated closures include:

North sidewalk, 300 Block of Washington Street

  • Aug. 18-28
  • Sept. 3-4
  • Sept. 8-17

West sidewalk, Linn Street between Washington Street and alley

  • Aug. 26-29
  • Sept. 3-4
  • Sept. 12-23

The Washington Street entrance to the Senior Center may be periodically closed. Access to the Iowa City Senior Center will be through the alleyway along the north side of the building, or through the skywalk to Clock Tower Parking Ramp.

Partial alley closure

  • Aug. 28 - Sept. 2
  • Sept. 3-4
  • Sept. 23-25
Periodic road closures will also be necessary and will be announced at a later date.
