AEM's Advocacy and Safety & Product Leadership teams hosted officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and California Air Resources Board (CARB) at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in Las Vegas. The visits provided regulators with opportunities to observe how safety is designed into equipment and engage in discussions on the future of non-road engine emissions regulations.

"This was a great opportunity for the Assistant Secretaries for OSHA and MSHA to gain a deeper understanding of how dedicated we are to worker safety from industry experts," said Nick Tindall, AEM's Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs.

Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for MSHA Wayne Palmer visited Volvo, Caterpillar, LBX, and Kobelco where he learned how manufacturers are using advanced technologies to improve worksite safety and enhance cab air filtration systems.

Assistant Secretary Palmer was also joined by AEM President Megan Tanel for a signing ceremony renewing the AEM-MSHA Alliance. The renewed alliance reinforces a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration and information sharing between the organizations.

U.S. Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for OSHA David Keeling visited exhibits from Topcon, CASE Construction, and John Deere. Following the tours, he participated in a roundtable discussion with executives and safety experts from Kubota, Manitowoc, Elliott Equipment Company, and Topcon to explore ways industry and OSHA can work together to further improve worker safety.

Engagement with CARB officials focused on regulatory alignment and future planning. CARB officials provided an overview of their upcoming regulatory priorities before visiting exhibits from Kubota, John Deere, Caterpillar, and Komatsu.
