The program features a captivating collection of works by 20th century Brazilian composers Claudio Santoro and Heitor Villa-Lobos.
The evening will begin with two song cycles by Santoro, one of Brazil's most versatile and influential musical figures, including "Canções de Amor"("Love Songs") and "Três Canções Populares"("Three Popular Songs"), which highlight Santoro's sophisticated and emotionally resonant style and versatility.
The recital will continue with a selection of works by the internationally celebrated Heitor Villa-Lobos, including pieces from his "Modinhas Series 2," a captivating nod to Brazilian popular song, and culminating with selections from "Floresta do Amazonas," including the sublime "Melodia Sentimental," a hallmark of Villa-Lobos's unique fusion of Brazilian folk music and classical forms.
