WTA to begin work to move Viking Union bus stop starting Aug. 10

Starting Aug. 10, Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) will begin work to move the bus stop in front of the Viking Union to a new location in front of the Performing Arts Center, across High Street from the Haggard Hall stop. Construction is expected to last about two weeks.

Work will include re-grading High Street, replacing a section of the sidewalk, adding a 4 foot x 40 foot bump as a loading platform, and installing two shelters.

During construction, the sidewalk on the west side of High Street will be closed and flaggers may need to close one lane intermittently. Expect typical construction noise and possible short delays on the street during this time.
