Statement From DNC Chair Ken Martin on One Month of Trump’s War of Choice With Iran Arrow

Tomorrow marks one month since Donald Trump and JD Vance launched their deadly and costly war of choice with Iran. In just one month, Trump's war has claimed the lives of at least 13 U.S. service members and injured nearly 300, while sending prices soaring for Americans back home.

Americans were already facing sky-high prices and a historically bad job market, and now, Trump's war is driving prices even higher, with new reports estimating inflation will surge above 4% this year and prices at the pump hover just under $4 a gallon.

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"One month ago, Donald Trump started a deadly, taxpayer-funded war with Iran that has taken the lives of 13 service members and injured hundreds more while skyrocketing day-to-day costs for American families. Trump and JD Vance promised to put 'America First,' lower costs on 'Day One,' and stop 'endless wars,' but they've done the exact opposite. With billions of dollars being spent on bombs instead of health care and food assistance, Americans have had enough. As Trump continues this war of choice, I am praying for our men and women in uniform, their families, and those being put in harm's way."

Trump and Vance promised voters to be a "pro-peace" administration, but since taking office, they have plunged the country into multiple foreign conflicts, putting service members in harm's way and costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. On the campaign trail, Vance himself assured voters, "Our interest very much is in not going to war with Iran. It would be a huge distraction of resources. It would be massively expensive to our country." Now, the Pentagon is requesting an additional $200 billion of taxpayer money for their war, enough money to reverse the Republican cuts to Medicaid and SNAP for the next three years.

Over 60% of Americans disapprove of Trump's war of choice - including 1 in 5 Republicans - and nearly the same amount said the U.S. made the wrong decision using military force in Iran.

Even Republican members of Congress have lamented the lack of information from the administration, saying they are "not getting enough answers" about Trump's plans as he considers deploying troops and his "Secretary of War" Pete Hegseth confirmed there's no definitive time frame for the war.
