Former Kingsbury man charged with felony after receiving benefits he was not eligible for

INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED:

Peter A. Casazza Age: 59 Proctor, VT (formerly of Kingsbury)

INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Peter A. Casazza, age 59, of Proctor, VT, for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a class E Felony, after a joint investigation by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the Washington County Department of Social Services.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Casazza received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits from Washington County Department of Social Services that he was not eligible for, resulting in him receiving benefits greater than $1,000.

Casazza was arrested after an Arrest Warrant was issued for him.

He was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment where he was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date in the Town of Fort Edward Court.
