Burnsville, April 16 - As Minnesotans continue to face increasing prices at the pump, the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels) launched a campaign in the Twin Cities metro area yesterday to help consumers save at the pump with Unleaded 88.

To kick off the campaign, MN Bio-Fuels held a two-hour Unleaded 88 promotion yesterday in White Bear Lake at a Holiday station at 4540 Centerville Road.

During the promotion, which was jointly-held with KS95 FM, consumers were educated on the many benefits of Unleaded 88 and those that fueled up with Unleaded 88 were rewarded with prizes such as $20 in cash, tickets to the Minnesota Twins, tickets to the St Paul Saints and KS95 merchandise.

"At a time when gas prices continue to rise due to the war in Iran, this outreach campaign will offer consumers across the Twin Cities metro area an opportunity to learn more about the cost savings associated with choosing Unleaded 88. Unleaded 88 is approved by the EPA for use in all vehicles model year 2001 and newer and offers immediate relief for Minnesota families because of its consistent price gap of $0.14 or more compared to traditional gasoline. Expanding educational efforts about affordable, homegrown fuel options like Unleaded 88 are an important part of helping Minnesota families manage rising costs," said Brian Werner, executive director of MN Bio-Fuels.

In the first two months of 2026, Unleaded 88 was priced at an average of 19 cents per gallon less than regular 87 octane fuel, according to the latest data from the Minnesota Department of Commerce.

With 21.62 million gallons of Unleaded 88 sold in January and February this year, this translated to savings of $4.1 million at the pump for Minnesotans.

Since 2013, Unleaded 88 has saved Minnesota drivers $79.5 million at the pump, according to a recent study. By 2030, these savings are projected to rise to over $272 million, the same study said.

While a temporary national emergency waiver for the summertime sale of Unleaded 88 (E15) was granted in March by the EPA, Minnesota Bio-Fuels continues to call on Congress to make year-round E15 permanent.

Following yesterday's event, MN Bio-Fuels will be heading to stations across the Twin Cities metro area over the next six months to promote Unleaded 88. For more information on these promotional events, follow MN Bio-Fuels on Facebook.
