The Oregon Bankers Association (OBA), through its wholly owned subsidiary Synergy by Association (Synergy), has announced Kobalt Labs as the newest participant in its Emerging Vendor Program, providing Oregon banks with access to cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology designed to strengthen compliance, streamline third-party risk management, and reduce manual workloads.
The Emerging Vendor Program introduces innovative solution providers to OBA member banks while Synergy evaluates each participant for potential future endorsement. Member banks gain early exposure to emerging technologies that address evolving regulatory and operational challenges while allowing solutions to be evaluated through real-world implementation and member feedback.
"Banks are under increasing pressure to review more information, respond to evolving regulatory expectations, and document their decision-making with fewer resources," said Andee Rose, senior vice president of Synergy by Association. "Kobalt applies AI to some of the most time-intensive compliance and due diligence activities, helping institutions work more efficiently while maintaining the consistency and transparency regulators expect."
Built specifically for financial institutions, Kobalt Labs uses artificial intelligence to accelerate document-heavy compliance and third-party risk management workflows. The platform analyzes policies, contracts, vendor due diligence materials, security assessments, and marketing content against current regulatory requirements, helping banks identify risks faster, improve consistency, and significantly reduce manual review time.
Rather than replacing an institution's governance or compliance management system, Kobalt enhances existing processes by applying AI to labor-intensive reviews, enabling teams to complete more work with greater consistency, speed, and confidence.
Kobalt helps financial institutions:
-
Streamline third-party risk management and vendor due diligence
-
Identify compliance gaps against evolving regulations and enforcement actions
-
Strengthen internal audit and policy review processes
-
Improve consistency and documentation for regulatory examinations
-
Produce consistent, audit-ready documentation while reducing manual review time
Security is foundational to the platform. Kobalt is SOC 2 certified, utilizes bank-level encryption, and does not train its AI models using customer data or share information between institutions.
As part of the Emerging Vendor Program, OBA member banks receive preferred pricing, including a 15% discount on Kobalt Labs services, along with dedicated customer support.
"Kobalt was built to help compliance and risk teams spend less time on repetitive manual reviews and more time making informed decisions," said Kobalt CEO Kalyani Ramadurgam. "We're excited to partner with Synergy by Association to help Oregon banks modernize their compliance operations while remaining responsive to an increasingly complex regulatory environment."
OBA member banks interested in learning more about Kobalt Labs are invited to join an informational webinar on August 19 or contact Ramadurgam at (858) 213-1136 or [email protected].
