KNOXVILLE - Motorists traveling on US 441 (State Route 71) in Sevier County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic.

Beginning on Sunday, May 3, resurfacing activities will begin on US 441 (State Route 71) between the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Dudley Creek in Gatlinburg. One lane will be closed between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights, and between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

All resurfacing activities are expected to be complete on or before June 30, 2026.

This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.

As always, drivers are reminded to use all motorist information tools wisely and "Know Before You Go!" by checking travel conditions before leaving for your destination. Drivers should never tweet, text, or talk on a cell phone while behind the wheel. The TDOT SmartWay system provides the latest updates for road construction activity.
