PHILADELPHIA - The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) is proud to announce Chad Eggers of Carolina Water Service of North Carolina as the recipient of its prestigious 2025 Living Water Award. Presented at the NAWC Annual Water Summit in Miami by NAWC President and CEO Rob Powelson, the Living Water Award recognizes a regulated water industry professional from a member company who has demonstrated excellence in serving their community, colleagues, industry and environment.
Chad, a Field Technician III, is being honored for his extraordinary dedication and unwavering commitment during Hurricane Helene, which devastated Western North Carolina last September. Amidst the catastrophic aftermath of the hurricane, Chad immediately reported to work, despite having lost his own dream home and possessions in a landslide caused by the storm.
"Chad's selfless response to Hurricane Helene is a powerful reminder of the dedication that underpins our industry," said Powelson. "To put community service above such personal loss is a testament to his character and speaks volumes about his profound commitment. His dedication ensured vital services continued when they were needed most, and we are honored to present him with the Living Water Award."
His efforts were instrumental in assessing damage, restoring critical water and wastewater services in rural communities and navigating difficult terrain to provide life-saving necessities. Chad's hands-on involvement, including managing individual field activities and assisting with pipe and leak repairs, was unwavering. His deep knowledge of the local area and profound commitment served as an inspiration to his colleagues and the community, demonstrating remarkable resilience and selflessness.
NAWC congratulates Chad for his remarkable achievements and his unwavering commitment to the people of North Carolina.
