WASHINGTON - Today Congressman Gabe Evans (CO-08) voted in favor of H.R. 6938, a consolidated appropriations package that funds crucial government operations including Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment for FY-2026. The legislative package also includes more than $1 million in funding for local priorities across Colorado's Eighth Congressional District.

Evans secured Community Project Funding for the following local priorities:
$600,000 for From Silenced to Saved's Expansion of Justice and Freedom Program for Victims of Commercial Sexual Exploitation
Funding will expand programs which provide training to law enforcement and resources to victims aimed at combating commercial sexual exploitation and supporting those impacted by human trafficking in the Northern Denver Metro Area.
$420,000 for Thornton Police Department's Crime Lab Enhancements
Funding will allow the Thornton Police Department to redesign the existing crime lab and enhance it with state-of-the-art equipment that will enable rapid collection, analysis, and cross-reference of forensic evidence.
$75,000 for Firestone Police Department's Enhancing Public Safety Through Technology Initiative
Funding will acquire equipment to modernize frontline operations, increase officer safety, and deliver more proactive and data driven public safety services.
Rep. Evans also secured the following programmatic funding and report language provisions that will directly benefit Colorado's Eighth Congressional District:
$6,100,000 for NASA's CAPSTONE Mission
Report language supporting the study of polar ground station infrastructure and emerging technology to support NOAA
Report language directing a DOE study on state policies that threaten energy reliability and affordability
Report language directing DOE to provide recommendations to Congress to address natural gas turbine shortages
Report language directing the DOE to develop a national strategy to advance solid state battery technology
$23,899,000 for the Upper Colorado River Basin Fund
$25,000,000 for enhanced geothermal system demonstrations and next-generation geothermal demonstration projects
Language and programmatic support for DOE's Fusion Sciences Program, including the Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program
$8,000,000 for the Southwest Ecological Research Institute for hazardous fuels and wildfire risk reduction
The consolidated appropriations package passed the House and is now headed to the Senate.
