FinCEN Issues Statement of Enforcement Policy in Support of Venezuela’s Economic Recovery and Earthquake Relief Efforts

Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued a statement of enforcement policy in support of earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela. The statement provides assurance to U.S. financial institutions that FinCEN will not take any supervisory or enforcement against U.S. financial institution for providing financial services in Venezuela, provided that such U.S. financial institution engages in reasonable efforts to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and its implementing regulations consistent with their existing BSA compliance program.
