City Council to see recommended budget in Aug. 11 work session

City Manager Jay Chapa will present his recommended Fiscal Year 2027 budget at a Fort Worth City Council budget work session at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the City Council Work Session Room on the lower level of City Hall, 100 Fort Worth Trail.

At 6 p.m., City Council will meet in the Council Chamber at City Hall.

Budget work session topics

  • Recommended FY27 operating and capital budgets
  • Truth in taxation: submission of 2026 no-new-revenue and voter-approval tax rates
  • Truth in taxation: submission of 2026 certified appraisal roll and certified collection rate
  • 2026 compensation study results
  • Summary of contracts and travel/training
  • Water utility FY27 rates and revenue requirements
  • Stormwater maintenance costs

City Council meeting topics

  • Special recognitions: Commander Antione Williams on his retirement and service to the City; and the Rev. Vernon Elisher and his nonprofit Youth and Family Outreach Inc. for their years of dedication and service to the community.
  • Council proposal: Reconsideration of M&C 26-0525 regarding the increase of attorney fees for Kenneth E. East P.C. for representation of former Police Officer Aaron Dean.
  • Council proposal: Requesting the Tarrant County Commissioners Court consider alternatives to reducing polling locations.
  • Non-consent agenda: Smoke-free ordinance amendment; Cook Children's Medical Center skybridge.
  • Resolutions: Gendy Street Management Corp. appointees; rezoning for Northside TEXRail Station transit-oriented development; consider tax rate; adopt 90-day moratorium on the acceptance, processing and approval of new applications for rezoning or permits for data centers; establish the Fort Worth Data Center and Infrastructure Commission.
  • Zoning hearing: There are 13 cases on the agenda.
