Augusta Avenue Bridge Construction to Begin Nov. 10
Escambia County's Construction Management Division is preparing to begin construction on the Augusta Avenue Bridge, which includes rehabilitation of the bridge's existing structure.
The Augusta Avenue Bridge will be closed to through traffic starting Tuesday, Nov. 10 and will remain closed for the duration of the project. Traffic will be detoured to Atlanta Avenue and Selma Avenue. Drivers should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone.
Residents, pedestrians, local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access to properties within the work area at all times; however, there may be short periods when a driveway or entrance may be blocked temporarily as equipment and materials are moved during construction.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2026, weather and construction coordination permitting. If roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.
