Numbers to Know: How E15 Lowers Gas Prices and Boosts Farmers' Bottom Lines

WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), a lifelong family farmer and member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, is pushing to get year-round, nationwide E15 signed into law to lower gas prices for consumers nationwide and boost the farm economy. Grassley has been a champion for E15 for over fifteen years.

"E15 benefits Americans from sea to shining sea. Passing year-round, nationwide E15 into law would lower gas prices, create jobs, strengthen national security and support rural America. It's good, good, good, and the numbers back that up. That's why I'm pushing to include E15 legislation into 'must pass' bills that are expected to be approved by the year's end," Grassley said.

Learn more about E15's benefits by the numbers HERE or below.

  • $150 million: E15 could save consumers more than $150 million this summer, according to data collected from thousands of retailers nationwide.
  • 128,000: Consistent access to E15 would create 128,000 new jobs.
  • 8 years: E15 has been available during the summer driving seasons for eight years through temporary waivers issued by the Trump and Biden administrations.
  • 0: Not one refinery has closed as a result of E15's eight years of year-round availability.
  • 3.85 million: Allowing permanent E15 availability would have a positive environmental impact, equivalent to removing more than 3.85 million cars off the road annually.
  • $25.8 billion: Enacting E15 would generate an additional $25.8 billion in economic activity, including $13.8 billion in new corn demand.
  • $60 million: Iowa drivers saved 15 cents per gallon by choosing E15 in 2025, bringing home over $60 million in savings overall.
