Investment will expand the Paraguayan company's industrial and logistics capacity, advancing biological solutions for agriculture, creating jobs, and supporting a more climate-resilient food production system.
Asunción, Paraguay, July 23, 2026-Tecnomyl S.A. announces an investment by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, to expand the production of biological agricultural inputs and strengthen the company's logistics infrastructure in Paraguay. The operation will broaden access to innovative agricultural technologies that promote more efficient and sustainable production, enhance the competitiveness of the agribusiness sector, and generate employment opportunities across the value chain.
The investment will support the growth of biological solutions for crop protection and nutrition, contributing to a more climate-resilient agricultural sector and increased productivity. It will also strengthen local bioinput manufacturing capacity, fostering innovation and the development of an industry with the potential to serve both the Paraguayan market and other countries in the region.
Agriculture is one of the main drivers of the Paraguayan economy and an important source of employment, income, and exports. However, the sector faces growing challenges associated with climate change-including prolonged droughts and extreme temperatures-as well as a high dependence on imported inputs.
The financing will support Tecnomyl's business expansion and strengthen its local manufacturing capacity for biological crop protection products, an innovative and lower-environmental-impact alternative to conventional agrochemicals.
"This investment represents a strategic step in continuing to strengthen our innovation and production capacity from Paraguay. It will allow us to broaden our portfolio of biological solutions to support farmers with increasingly sustainable and efficient technologies, while contributing to the development of an agriculture prepared for the challenges of the future," said Javier Islas, Chief Financial Officer of Tecnomyl S.A.
The new industrial capacity will enable the manufacture of biological products whose lifecycle emissions intensity is between 50 and 80 percent lower than that of conventional agrochemicals.
In addition to reducing the environmental footprint, these inputs contribute to improving soil health and enhancing crop tolerance to drought and extreme heat conditions.
As part of this partnership, IFC will also provide advisory services to promote the adoption of bioinputs in Paraguay through a training program for farmers, agronomists, and distributors, to be developed jointly with Tecnomyl. The initiative will include practical workshops and knowledge exchanges with regional specialists and research institutions.
"Our partnership with Tecnomyl marks a milestone for climate-smart agriculture in the region and strengthens the World Bank Group's longstanding relationship with Grupo Sarabia, which began in 2011," said Manuel Reyes Retana, IFC Division Manager for Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. "This investment will help create jobs, increase productivity, and strengthen Paraguay's competitiveness, while advancing a more resilient, lower-carbon agricultural sector."
The project also includes measures to strengthen gender inclusion within the company through recruitment and training strategies aimed at increasing women's participation in the workforce. With more than 35 years of experience, Tecnomyl reaffirms its commitment to innovation, national industry, and the development of solutions that contribute to a more efficient, competitive, and sustainable agriculture for Paraguay and the region.
