Reminder to Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

BUSHKILL, Pa. - Starting Friday, September 4 and continuing throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend, the National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will implement a Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over impaired driver checkpoint and high-visibility enforcement campaign. U.S. park rangers will look for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, as well as check for valid operator licenses and essential safety equipment.

"Our first priority is to keep people safe, so we're asking everyone to plan ahead and determine a designated driver if they know they'll be out drinking," said Chief Ranger Eric Linaris. "The Drive Soberor Get Pulled Over campaign is an awareness effort to get the message out that drunk driving is illegal, and it takes lives."

Impairment clouds a person's judgment. Drivers should plan ahead and not wait until after drinking to plan a safe ride home and secure a designated sober driver.
