Last week, NMMA welcomed Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling and Connecticut Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff to the 50th anniversary of the Norwalk Boat Show, held at Norwalk Cove Marina.
Mayor Rilling, a longtime supporter of the city's maritime economy, toured the show docks with NMMA staff, meeting with dealers and manufacturers who spotlighted the critical role boating plays in Norwalk's economy and quality of life. He noted the show's importance in drawing thousands of visitors annually and supporting local businesses.
Senate Majority Leader Duff, who also serves as Vice President of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), joined the tour and spoke with exhibitors about the latest innovations in recreational boating. As both a state legislative leader and national policymaker, Duff's participation underscored the growing visibility of the recreational marine industry at all levels of government.
The Norwalk Boat Show has become a centerpiece for the region's recreational boating community, showcasingmore than 200 boats and the latest in marine products and technologies. This year's 50th anniversary was an opportunity to highlight the industry's $4.1 billionannual economic impact in Connecticut, supporting nearly 14,000jobs.
