Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure Announces Fitness Reviews of Judges Seeking Initial Appointment or Reappointment as Senior Judges of the Superior Court of the[...]

This is to notify members of the Bar and the public that the Commission is reviewing the qualifications of the following judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia for recommendations for initial appointment or reappointment as Senior Judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia:

Hon. Cheryl M. Long for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of her current term on December 3, 2025.

Hon. Gregory E. Mize for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of his current term on December 31, 2025.

Hon. Craig Iscoe for initial appointment as a Senior Judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon his retirement in January 2026.

Hon. Kimberley S. Knowles for initial appointment as a Senior Judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon her retirement in January 2026.

Hon. Patricia A. Wynn for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of her current term on January 31, 2026.

Hon. Zoe Bush for an initial appointment as a Senior Judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of her current term on February 3, 2026.

Hon. Russell F. Canan for an initial appointment as a Senior Judge to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of his current term on February 3, 2026.

Hon. Natalia Combs Greene for reappointment as a Senior Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia upon expiration of her current term on February 17, 2026.

The Commission invites members of the Bar, litigants, former jurors, interested organizations and members of the public to submit comments or any other information bearing on the performance and qualifications of Senior Judge Cheryl M. Long, Senior Judge Gregory E. Mize, Senior Judge Patricia A. Wynn, Judge Zoe Bush, Judge Russell F. Canan, Senior Judge Natalia Combs Greene, and retiring Associate Judge Craig Iscoe and retiring Associate Judge Kimberley S. Knowles to continue their respective judicial service as senior judges.

The cooperation of the community at an early stage will greatly aid the Commission in fulfilling its responsibilities. The identity of any person submitting materials will be kept confidential unless expressly authorized by the person submitting the information.

Comments for Judge Long and Judge Mize may be submitted by October 17, 2025.

Comments for Judge Iscoe, Judge Knowles, and Judge Wynn may be submitted by November 3, 2025.

Comments for Judge Bush, Judge Canan, and Judge Combs Greene may be submitted by November 14, 2025.

Comments may be submitted:

  • By online survey on the Commission's website at: Evaluation Survey link.
  • Orally or in writing to the Commission's Executive Director Moses Cook at [email protected], Deputy Executive Director Catherine Bruno at [email protected], Special Counsel Amy Conway-Hatcher, Esq. at [email protected], or to any individual member of the Commission.

If the comments or information pertain to a specific case, the Commission requests the case be identified by the case caption and include the identification of any relevant hearing dates or pleadings.
