Bt cotton remains the only genetically engineered (GE) crop Burma allows farmers to cultivate. A 2025 amendment to the Animal Health and Livestock Development Law requires businesses that produce, process, or sell GE animals to register with the Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary Department.
