Rep. Crane Calls on Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego to Vote for House-passed Funding Extension

Today, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) joined all Republican members of Arizona's congressional delegation in signing a letter urging Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) to vote for the House-passed government funding extension.

Background:

On September 19, the House of Representatives passed a bill to maintain government funding at current levels through November 21, 2025. As of now, only two Democrats and one Independent support this legislation in the U.S. Senate, meaning the government will remain shut down until five more senators back the measure.

Summary:

Given that Arizona Senators Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego are among the Democrats who have repeatedly blocked the resolution, Rep. Crane believes they should vote to reopen the federal government.

Alongside his fellow Arizona Republicans, the delegation urged Senators Kelly and Gallego to support the funding bill.

"Last month, the House of Representatives passed a funding extension to prevent a government shutdown. Unfortunately, Senators Kelly and Gallego have repeatedly voted against this approach," said Rep. Crane. "A prolonged shutdown harms Arizonans, with many federal employees furloughed or working without pay. I urge our senators to back this sensible measure and help end the government shutdown."
