Grant: Coastal Preservation & Adaptation for Rural Communities

Earlier this year, the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation launched the first round of funding for our Coastal Preservation & Adaptation for Rural Communities (CPARC) Program, which aimed to support historic buildings and districts in rural communities looking to conduct renovations to combat coastal flooding (thanks to funding from the National Park Service's Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant Program).

But we know that the threat of flooding for historic buildings extends far beyond just coastal flooding, which is why we're happy to open round two of CPARC funding-now with expanded eligibility to include riparian and riverine flooding impacts to rural communities statewide!

Under revised guidelines, grant projects must be for historic properties that are eligible for or are currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places or applicable Tribal Register; located in rural Washington State communities; and able to complete flood adaptation projects by September 30, 2027.

The total funding available for this one-time grant opportunity is approximately $350,000. The maximum grant award will be $200,000. Grant applications are due Sunday, December 13.
