VIENNA, 4 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations (Vienna), Preston Wells Griffith, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Monica Juma.
During his career, Mr. Wells Griffith has served in various capacities, among them:
Under Secretary of Energy, U.S. Department of Energy (Senate-confirmed); Acting Assistant Secretary for International Affairs, U.S. Department of Energy; Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Energy and Environment on the National Security Council, responsible for the coordination and implementation of all international energy and environment policy matters, bilateral and multilateral energy engagements; and Managing Director and Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer at the U.S. Development Finance Corporation.
Mr. Wells Griffith holds a Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi and a Bachelor of Arts from the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia.
