The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Indiana has established an application deadline of Jan. 16 for the first funding round of Regional Conservation Partnership Programprojects. This date ensures producers have a clear, consistent timeline for participating in the Grassland for Gamebirds and Songbirds RCPP, Tri-State Western Lake Erie Basin RCPP and Kankakee Watershed RCPP projects.
"These projects are a great example of public, private and non-government organizations working together to solve local problems," said Damarys Mortenson, Indiana NRCS State Conservationist. "By targeting dollars and leveraging partner resources, we can make a greater impact on the health of our nation's most significant collections of natural resources."
Eligible producers and forestland owners who wish to implement conservation practices on their land should discuss their options with their local district conservationist. While NRCS accepts program applications year-round, Indiana producers and landowners should apply by Jan. 16 to be considered for the current funding cycle. Applications received after Jan. 16 will automatically be considered during the next funding cycle.
